Ferrari’s ‘Special Projects’ division, the guys responsible for hand-crafting exclusive one-off cars for extremely wealthy Ferraristas, have just pulled the covers off their latest project. Based on the 599, the Ferrari Superamerica 45 was commissioned by New York collector and Ferrari nut Peter Kalikow. The car’s name was chosen by Kalikow to reflect the 45th anniversary of his first Ferrari purchase.
The most striking aspect of the design is the stunning metallic blue paintwork. Unfortunately some of it seems to have dribbled onto the wheels which gives it a sort of tacky tuner style appearance. But other than that it’s got some really nice features. The polished aluminium windscreen surround and mirror covers provide a nice contrast to the blue bodywork, as does the chromed front grille.
The carbon fiber retractable roof is painted in a much darker shade of blue, as are the other carbon fiber elements like the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser. The trunk is entirely new to house the roof when open, and is now in carbon-fibre with a design optimised to reduce drag and increase rear downforce.
The interior of the Ferrari Superamerica 45 continues the blue-on-blue color scheme, and is upholstered in a mix of fine leather and blue-painted carbon fiber.
If Mr Kalikow gets rid of those daft wheels and repaints the roof to the same color as the rest of the body, he’ll be the proud owner of a 100% stunning Ferrari.
