The entry-level Ferrari California has just been significantly upgraded for 2014 with the addition of a turbocharger, as well as some subtle bodywork modifications.
The direct-injection, 3.8 litre turbocharged V8 is mounted very low in the chassis in a mid-front position and delivers 560 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 557 lb-ft (755 Nm) of torque. This is a significant increase – 70 hp – over the previous naturally aspirated California. The increase in power translates into improved performance. How does 3.6 seconds to 62 mph (100 km/h) sound?
Yet despite the power hike, the Ferrari California T is around 15 percent more fuel economic than the previous car. This is also the first time virtually zero turbo lag has been achieved on an engine of this type, as well as offering a torque curve that increases constantly across the rev range thanks to Variable Boost Management. The California T also has the latest evolution of the F1-Trac traction control system.

For braking, the California T uses carbon-ceramic discs and pads, and the whole setup is integrated with the ESP 8.0 premium which controls the high performance ABS for a short 62 to 0 mph braking distance of just 34 metres.
