Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing – Ultra limited edition, pricey

Citroen has just revealed the most exclusive version of the DS3 yet. Called the DS3 Cabrio Racing, the new model will be sold in absurdly limited numbers. 100 in total, and the UK for example will only be getting 10. That will make it rarer than many limited edition supercars. And while it’s not quite as expensive as Italy’s finest. It also isn’t cheap. At all.

Powering the Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is a 207 horsepower four-cylinder 1.6-litre turbocharged engine -  the same as that found in the hardtop DS3 Racing. The 0-62 mph run is finished in just 6.5 seconds, and the top speed is 145 mph.

The Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing features a bold graphics package to help it stand out from the crowd. Additional cosmetic and aerodynamic upgrades which identify the car include; a unique gray body color, black fabric roof and 18-inch brilliant black painted ‘Nemesis’ sports alloy wheels, bright red DS logo centre caps and red painted brake calipers.

Additional highlights of the Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing include:

• Re-mapping of the engine control unit (ECU)
• Modified sports exhaust system & sports silencer
• Modified turbo system with integrated carbon-trimmed components & specialist motor sports equipment
• High-performance suspension with adapted front & rear shock absorbers (to handle the increased power)
• Widening of the front & rear tracks by 30mm – plus lowering the car by 15mm
• Revised steering mapping & a modified steering control system
• Up-rated braking system, including 4-piston racing calipers at the front
• Switchable Electronic Stability Control programme (S.ESC) to complement the sports handling, which can be deactivated according to the driver’s preference.

The Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is priced at £29,305 ($48,500 at today’s exchange rate).
