At the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show Honda unveiled three concept cars, a commuter car, a family car, and asports car. Obviously the EV-STER is the sports car concept. The Honda EV-STER is a compact vehicle, measuring just 3.5 metres (140 inches) long, 1.5 metres (59 inches) wide and 1.1 metres (43 inches) high.
Powering the Honda EV-STER is an electric motor supplied by a 10kWh lithium-ion battery. But before you start to groan at the thought of yet another electric powered sports car concept which isn’t in the least bit sporty. Absorb the fact the EV-STER can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5 seconds. The top speed is a bit less impressive at just 100 mph (160 km/h).
Part of the Honda EV-STER Concept’s secret is the fact its light. Honda have used carbon fiber throughout the car to keep the weight to a minimum – compensating for the extra weight of the battery. The lightweight construction also helps increase the car’s range, and on a full charge it can cover 100 miles (160 kilometres). The battery can be fully charged in less than 3 hours using a 200V connection, and in under 6 hours using a 100V source.

On the inside the Honda EV-STER features a futuristic interior with an A-symetric design. Unlike the rest of the black-trimmed interior, the driver’s seat is colored neon green and white. In addition, a conventional steering wheel has been ditched in favor of a dual lever setup. The instrument panel is split into three separate LCD screens, which allow the driver to monitor all the cars functions and customise the readouts.
