Dubai Roadster – Awesomely Real

Dubai Roadster
This is the Dubai Roadster. It’s just about the most simplistic name ever conceived for a vehicle, concept or otherwise. What’s next? “American Truck”, “British Coupe”, “Chinese Clone”? But leaving the daft name aside, there are more concerning issues with the Dubai Roadster.
Firstly, it looks amazing. It’s a bit generic in places – especially up front where the Corvette Stingray seems to be the primary influence. But overall it’s a pretty stunning machine. However unfortunately there’s a pretty good reason this might be just a bit of a hoax.
Worldcarfans broke the story from a tipster called Mariam. And that’s were the details start to get suspiciously vague. It could be that this is some sort of leak, in which case the illusive nature of the details is to be expected. But it doesn’t feel quite like that.
Firstly the creator is an “unnamed Emirati racer”. Belivable, but if someone knows its a racing driver from the Emirates, then surely they also know his name.
Secondly there is no official website of a manufacturer or builder to be found, or images of a partially built prototype car. Just three beautifully rendered 3D models.
And thirdly, as pointed out by Carscoops, the renders of the Dubai Roadster each have a barely readable designers mark located on the upper part of the door which reads something something DESIGN. Design being the only legible word.
Anyway, if the Dubai Roadster does turn out to be real it should be pretty special. Built around a chromoly tubular spaceframe chassis, the car will be powered by a 400 horsepower V8 which for some reason is said to be transversely mounted.
The Dubai Roadster is said to be making its world debut at the 2015 Dubai Motor Show which is well over a year and a half away (10 – 14 November 2015).
Fingers crossed the Dubai Roadster proves to be something more than vaporware.
