Mercedes F-400 Carving
The Mercedes F-400 was a dramatic concept from 2001. The F-400 carries the name 'carving' because its outer two wheels lean into the corner in a similar manner to skiiers carving their outside ski inward to improve cornering stability.
In testing, this unique ability proved to increase cornering force, although the technology is yet to find its place in the production market.
The F-400's design influence came from aircraft. The partially exposed wheels look more natural in the arches during cornering.
