The Lamborghini Estoque concept was revealed on October 1st 2008, just before the start of the 2008 Paris Motor Show. Prior to its unveiling Lamborghini had released a series of images which were designed to build up excitement and speculation.
The Estoque is the first official Lamborghini concept car since the Miura concept was unveiled in 2006. And in complete contrast to the Miura concept which was heavily influenced by past Lamborghini models, the Estoque concept breaks new ground for Lamborghini in almost every single way.
The 2008 Lamborghini Estoque concept is a 5.15 m (16.9 feet) long, four-door luxury sedan designed to compete against the likes of the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.
Unlike the current mid-engined Reventon, Murcielagoand Gallardo supercars, the Estoque is powered by a front mounted engine driving all four wheels.
The styling of the Estoque is instantly recognizable as belonging to Lamborghini. And while the car is not exactly beautiful in the purest sense of the word, it is still a striking vehicle. The extremely aggressive front end is dominated by the massive air intakes either side of the bumper underneath the slit-like headlights.
The rest of the Estoque is fairly conservative for Lamborghini. The sides are uncluttered but still purposeful and powerful, especially the rear arches which display a distinct bulge over the rear wheels. The tail section features narrow taillights neatly recessed into the bodywork, and a pair of centrally positioned exhaust tips in the lower bumper.
The interior of the Lamborghini Estoque features four individual sport seats with electric adjustment. The dominant interior covering is Nappa leather.
The driver is presented with a large LCD display screen which offers up vehicle and route information. A range of formats are available for selection depending on personal preference - a distinctive classical layout with circular instrument dials, or an innovative digital display. The Lamborghini Estoque is also fitted with a top-spec audio unit and a sophisticated rear seat entertainment system.
A range of drivetrains are conceivable for the Lamborghini Estoque, ranging from the V10 found in the Gallardo LP 560-4, to a turbocharged V8 derived from this V10. The economical options could include a V8 with a hybrid module or an extremely high-performance diesel unit.
