Callaway Competition, the motorsport arm of Callaway Cars, has just been given official approval from Chevrolet to be their authorized builder of FIA-approved GT3 Corvette C7 race cars.
Callaway Competition GmbH, basedin Leingarten, Germany will now get to work on developing the race car to meet FIA standards in the GT3 class. Callaway has also been the homologation holder for the Corvette C6 version of the GT3, and the Callaway team is currently the most successful in GT3 racing, based on numerous Drivers and Team Championships since 2007. So the C7 version could prove to be something rather special.
Callaway are currently in the early stages of developing the new Callaway Corvette C7 GT3 race car, which means that we only have these rather poor resolution digital renders to go off. But it looks like the car will recieve all the usual racing modifications, including; wider bodywork with numerous adjustable aerodynamic aids, a side-exit exhaust, roll-cage, bucket racing seats and tow hooks. No word yet on the drivetrain specifications.
