The Germans love their fast cars, and they also have a propensity tune them to within an inch of their life. Sometimes, in fact regularly, German tuners step over the line of ‘improvement’, and venture deep in to the ‘tragic mess’ category. However Senner Tuning’s Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG sits comfortably on the good side of the tuning divide.Senner Tuning start by taking €19,500 ($25,500) off the SLS AMG-owning customer. They then proceed to fit a stainless steel sports exhaust, high-performance air filter, and they also have a little talk with the ECU and ask it to take full advantage of the new respiratory tract. The modest drivetrain changes take the power output to 606 hp – a rise of 35 hp. Torque also increases, from 650 Nm (479 lb-ft), to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). That works out to around €560 ($730) per additional pony of power. But for your money you also get an upgraded suspension system, two-piece 20-inch ‘ Corniche Vegas’ alloy wheels, and carbon fiber mirror housings. It’s not exactly a bargain upgrade. But if you’ve already splashed out for an SLS AMG, then pricey accessories probably aren’t much of an issue.
