2016 Acura CDX unveiled in Beijing

The new Acura CDX crossover has been unveiled at the 2016 Beijing auto show, and is the first model from the brand to be designed with China in mind.
Believed to be based on the Honda HR-V, the new CDX slots in underneath the Pilot-based MDX and the CR-V-basedRDX. The CDX is the first all new Acura model to come out after the Precision Concept, which debuted the brand’s new styling direction.
Like the MDX update unveiled at the 2016 New York auto show, the CDX features the marque’s new pentagonal grille. Behind the unmissable grille is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The company has yet to provide power, torque, performance and fuel economy figures for the CDX. When used in the new tenth-generation Honda Civic, the 1.5-litre turbo EarthDreams engine develops 127kW of power and 220Nm of torque.
That’s a step up from the 105kW/172Nm rating of the 1.8-litre mill used in Australia-bound versions of the HR-V, not to mention the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-DSi engine available overseas.
The Acura CDX is said to be a China-only model for now, and will be produced by the company’s joint venture Guangqi Honda. Sales begin in China from July.
