Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Evolution Vision concept for GT6

Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo
Mitsubishi has just become the latest major automaker to commit some of their resources into designing a car which they know will never, ever be sold at one of their dealerships. It’ll only ever exist in the racing game Gran Turismo 6. Yet despite that, it’s a smart move by Mitsubishi – and all the other manufacturers who jumped on the GT6 Vision bandwagon. Their futuristic motors will now be flogged to within an inch of their life by millions of gamers. Millions of gamers who might one day go out and buy a brand new car. And if they happen to like the concept car in GT6, they might take a punt on a production car in the real world.
The Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Evolution Vision concept looks like some sort of pumped up hill climb racer crossed with a rally car and a modified hot hatch. It’s insanely aggressive, sharper than a Swiss surgeon’s scalpel. Oh and it’s a hybrid too. But don’t let the word hybrid put you off. The drivetrain consists of a 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged V6 backed up by an plug-in rechargeable electric motor. The transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch unit which drives all four wheels through a Mitsubishi S-AWD system.

The bodywork is carbon fiber, helping keep the overall weight down to a realistic – for a hybrid – 2,976 lbs (1,350 kgs).
