Aston Martin Lagonda sedan rendered

Aston-Martin Lagonda sedan
The names Aston Martin and Lagonda have been intertwined since 1947, when Aston Martin purchased the rival British company. For the next few decades Aston Martin continued to produce a limited number of Lagonda-badged models, culminating in the imposing and very boxy Aston Martin Lagonda sedan which debuted in 1976 and carried on being produced right up until 1989. However it’s been over 20 years since the Lagonda name has been used by the company. Well that’s all changing now.
It’s been known for a while now that Aston Martin is reviving the Lagonda name. In fact the company made an official announcement regarding the return of the Lagonda name in 2011. The Lagonda brand will primarily be used to help facilitate the company moving into new markets, like China and Russia, and also new vehicle classes like large luxury sedans and SUVs.

Recently a series of spy shots showing an Aston Martin Lagonda sedan prototype running around on public roads was published by a number of magazines and websites. Seizing on this, the talented automotive rendering guys at Wildspeed had a stab at turning the camouflaged car into something which was a little more showroom ready.

What they’ve come up with is looks fairly true to the spy photos, and it shows a car which is far less graceful in appearance than the current Aston Martin Rapide. It’s not quite as bad as the original Aston Martin Lagonda from the ’70s, but that’s a pretty low starting point. It’s kinda like saying one turd doesn’t smell quite as bad as another turd. At the end of the day, they’re still both turds.
Aston Martin seem to be having real trouble in the styling department when it comes to Lagonda, their SUV prototype wasn’t much better either. It got, at best, a lukewarm reception at the motor shows it was displayed at.
