Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION

As the production life of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG draws to a graceful close – in contrast to the long drawn-out and increasingly absurd final years of the Bugatti Veyron – Mercedes-Benz have created a final edition model called, well, fittingly, the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION. The FINAL EDITION model, built in a limited run of just 350 units, represents the last opportunity for buyers to snag themselves an SLS AMG direct from the factory.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION is making twin world premieres at both the Los Angeles Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show. The market launch will begin in March 2014. The super sports car will be available as either a Coupe or a Roadster and, once 350 units have been built, production of the SLS AMG model series will come to an end.

Commenting on the car, Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH said: “As the first car to be completely developed by AMG, the SLS AMG marked the beginning of a new era for our company. And now, in the form of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION, we are offering our customers one final and extremely attractive variant of our super sports car. With its numerous carbon fibre-look body components, a further optimised aerodynamic balance and optional Cup tyres, the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION has the absolute potential to fascinate.”
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION has been given a few exterior upgrades to make sure it stands out from the regular cars. Changes include a carbon fibre hood with central air outlet, a carbon-fibre front splitter, a fixed carbon-fibre rear spoiler similar to that found on the SLS AMG Coupé BlackSeries, and exclusive AMG forged light-alloy wheels.
Powering the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION is a 591 horsepower 6.3-litre V8 which produces 650 Nm of torque @ 4,750 rpm. The car is capable of accelarating from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds, while the top speed is an electronically limited 198 mph. The transmission is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed unit with four shift modes.
On the inside the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION features designo Exclusive leather in a diamond pattern that is used to upholster the centre panels of both the seats and the doors, carbon-fiber trim, Alcantara suede steering wheel, and an “AMG FINAL EDITION – 1 of 350″ badge located on the center console.
