Camal Tributo based on the Maserati GranTurismo

Camal Studio, the Italian design house responsible for creations such as the Fiat 500 Marcia Corta by Camal and numerous bespoke Ferraris, have just revealed their latest creation.
Styled by designer Alessio Minchella and called the Camal “Tributo”, the new car is based on a Maserati GranTurismo. The influences for the Tributo come from a variety of classic Maseratis, including theGhibli, Bora and Khamsin. Camal Studio say the Tributo is a fresh interpretation of a modern Maserati GT.

Some of the more notable elements of the Camal Tributo concept include the pointed front end and the significantly smaller headlights. At the rear of the Tributo a similar overhang to the front helps frame the redesigned taillights. The alloy wheels also have a traditional look to them as they have been styled to emulate classic wire wheels.
Under the skin, Camal say they have left the GranTurismo’s drivetrain unaltered. But the reduction in overall weight achieved by their new bodywork is said to improve the car’s performance.
Below is what Camal Studio themselves have to say about the Maserati Tributo concept (translated from Italian).
Born from the pencil of designer Alessio Minchella, the Tributo is the latest work of CAMAL Studio.
The special body, which is designed to be unique,  is based on the Maserati Granturismo platform. It shares not only the technical layout but also the qualities of elegance and sportiness that has always characterized the cars of the trident marque.
The style of the Tributo, was created to meet the classic and refined taste of the followers of the house of Modena. A stylistic path that starts from the famous Ghibli, Bora, and Kashmin and results in a new interpretation of the Maserati GT.
The Tributo is a fastback, a natural choice to enhance the sporting character of the brand, and a strong character that you wanted to merge with the essential characteristics of quality, comfort and elegance typical of Maserati.
Inspired by the work of the best car designers from Turin in the past, it was decided to balance the overall design through the use of simple sections along the central part of the car. The protruding wheel arches, reminiscent of the powerful V8 grand touring cars from the ’60s and ’70s, reinforce the visual impact of the car and enhances the symbiosis with the basic architecture.
The front and rear have been treated and embellished only in a functional way, thus emphasizing the simple and sculptural feel that makes the car an exercise in elegance with a strong identity.
Technically, the car has retained its basic features, but the choice of materials of the bodywork has decreased the weight for improved performance. Security structures have remained unchanged allowing easy approval as a single unit of the car. Several options for enhancement of the engine are available to the customer.
