The BOLT Roadster is a project being developed by Team Dendrou, a group of automotive designers and engineers who have come together to create a compact two-seat sports car which focuses on driver enjoyment and agility.
The unique proportions of the BOLT Roadster concept probably put it in the love-it-or-loathe-it category of automotive design. The front end is fairly representative of what buyers expect from a sports car. Lots of big air intakes, a sloping hood and stylish headlights. The sides and rear are a little more unusual. The lower door panels are separate from the rest of the bodywork and finished in a contrasting dark grey. Behind the cockpit things get really unique. Instead of the usual trunk lid and couple of roll hoops common to most roadsters, Team Dendrou have given the BOLT Roadster a couple of very large humps which act as the cover for the mid-mounted engine.
According to Team Dendrou these two projections are also designed to provide an added level of security and comfort for the occupants, one not usually found in your typical roadster.

Powering the BOLT Roadster is a 2.0-litre, 25o-horsepower engine driving the rear wheels. At 4 metres (13.1 feet) long the BOLT Roadster is exactly the same length as the current Mazda MX-5. Although the projected weight isn’t specified, it is claimed the car would weigh in at under 1,000 kgs (2,200 lbs).
While the BOLT Roadster might not be to everyone’s taste, it is undeniably original and does offer a fresh take on the roadster layout.
