Volvo T6 Roadster Hot Rod

This hand-built hot rod constructed from a variety of Volvo components and a featuring twin turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine is a creation of Leif Tufvesson. After Volvo became aware of the T6 Roadster they invited the car to be shown alongside the XC70 AT concept at SEMA 2005.

Leif, a former Volvo employee, spent some time working at the Volvo prototype department in Gothenburg, Sweden, his experience here helped in the construction of this one-off hot rod.

Construction began on the Volvo hot rod in 1998. It was built with extreme attention to detail entirely by hand in Leif's own garage, using his own tools. All components of the build are OEM Volvo parts. The T6 Roadster is powered by a modified 300 horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter inline 6 engine, kindly donated by a Volvo S80.

The engine, positioned behind the sports seats, is mated to a 5-speed Geartronic transmission that drives the rear wheels. To help keep the T6 Roadster's engine cool, the rear decklid lifts automatically when a preset temperature is reached inside the engine compartment.
